An Innovative Concept

The University of Northwest Europe is the first institution of higher education providing teaching and research on the basis of a new scientific concept called Integration Science. The concept reflects on a new concentration within the human sciences, i. e. Human Integration Science. This new scientific domain is dealing with research, design and creation of human integration processes with respect to human integration into new social and cultural environments, institutions, organizations and systems. While designing curricula of studies, special attention was drawn to their effectiveness with a view to transfer orientation. A new study model, influenced by theories of knowledge, enriched with great many experiences drawn from practice areas, combines the core elements in order to achieve content optimization for the process of human integration.

The University of Northwest Europe is a new institution of higher education and training, which is settled in the postgraduate area. All degree programmes offered are tailored and structured to serve the needs and requirements of adult learners who may study simultaneously to their professional duties and other commitments. All foundation courses offered display an interdisciplinary character, and concentrate on the achievement of foreign language skills, cultural studies, intercultural competencies, intercultural behaviour and psychology, as well as intercultural communication skills.

Consequently, the University of Northwest Europe will award professional qualifications in Integration Science and Human Integration Science, and degrees at graduate and postgraduate level. However, the degree titles clearly signify the special nature of the programme in Integration Science.The University of Northwest Europe is a new autonomous university which distinguishes itself significantly from other institutions because of its unique programme features. The study cycles applied are in close conformity with the criteria of the Bologna process. The new science area "Integration Science" with concentration on Human integration is currently still in a nascent stage and will continue to develop.
