The “University of Northwest Europe” (U.N.E), is an international nonprofit organisation created by Articles of Association governed under the Civil Code of the Netherlands (Book II, Art. 1926-1948) which acquired legal personality with registered seat in Kerkrade, situated in the middle of the Euregio triangle Belgium – Germany – Netherlands. The legitimacy of the educational activities of the association is derived from Article 23 of the Dutch Constitution.
The Association is an international private and independent corporate body and constitutes the legal entity of the university. The academic activities of the University are governed by separate statutes and regulations. The Association “University of Northwest Europe” is both, an autonomous higher education institution, and equally meets the defined criteria of a Non-Governmental Organisation.
