Progress and Control of Study
(Excerpts from TUO Regulations)
(1) The study is performed in accordance with the individual study plans. The individual study plan defines forstudent, which courses are mandatory for him/her and, specifies the details and time schedule for his/herindividual study. Also and as well, required professional research activity, eventually even the study andinterships at various (other) workplaces (domestic and foreign), their programme and the focus of theand pedagogic activities. The individual study plan is prepared after discussing it with the student by/her supervisor and then the Branch Committee approves it.
(2) Students participate in pedagogical activities that may be in the form of controlled unpaid pedagogical(a part of the study) or, in the form of paid external teaching. A maximum total volume of unpaidpractice shall not exceed 4 hours weekly in average over the winter and summer semester. Thepedagogical experience of the students is included in the credit evaluation system of basic activities, as per attachment No.1.
(3)The study has two parts that can overlap in time schedule:
a) At the end of the study part, a State Doctoral Exam takes place. The State Doctoral Exam consists of afrom three a priori selected courses and, a discussion related to the concept of thesis. The aim is tostudent's ability to think in relations of studied courses and the topic of elaborated thesis. The subjects ofstate doctoral exam need not differ from the courses of study part. State doctoral exam is classified as “passed” , “not passed”. State Doctoral Exam is public.
b) The condition for the State Doctoral Exam to be carried out is completion of the requirements given by thepart of the individual study plan of a student.
c) State Doctoral Exam takes place before the defence of the thesis.
